The star was a Christmas gift from my 13 year old nephew who made it out of Saguaro ribs. Also, one of my favorite items!
I love living in Central Phoenix and one of the perks is the old houses. We live in a house that was built in the 30's, and love it! We've talked about moving and looked at new homes, but they just don't have the old charm that this house has. Of course, it would be nice to have some of the amenities that go with a new home... like a dishwasher. :) Here are 2 things I love about our old home:
Isn't that cool?
Our Beautiful front door. I know, its just a door, but it has so much character and totally reminds me of cyclops with a mustache. Being an AZ girl, I have to point out the copper piece in the window.
Last year my oldest nephew made us this for Christmas:
I'm not sure what it's called, but he said this is how people used to make guitars- he tuned it and everything! I love it!
And here's another gift- from my brother. He made them for Albs; they are Sesame Street records that he framed. So cool and such a great idea!
And then there's this:
C traced this saucy vixen and painted her one day when she was feeling artistic. At first I was not super crazy about her (the vixen), but that's when we had white walls. Now that we have super bright walls, she actually fits in and I love it!
I wanted to share my excitement for my China cabinet, and show you some of the things that help give our small, old home character. While doing this post I realized that the boys in my family are good gift givers! I need to step up my game!
Thanks for stopping by, hope you're having a great week!
I'm going to have that song in my head now, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love that cabinet! And, of course, the other photos you shared are awesome, but I really love that cabinet!
Thanks! I had the song stuck in my head all day too!
DeleteLove it! Is that milk door like a little built in icebox?
ReplyDeleteChrista, it's a door in the kitchen that also opens outside, where the milk man used to leave the milk! It's really cool! The little pointers on the inside show what they want, there is sour cream, butter, milk...
DeleteGorgeous cabinet! I love the features of your home - very unique! I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself since we're a part of the SITS Tribe Challenge! Have a terrific week!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelly! Thank you for stopping by, I'm heading over to check out your blog now! :)
DeleteOh my I love that door! I have never seen anything like it before to completely honest. It looks like you have some very talented little nephews.

Amanda, thank you! My nephews are pretty amazing! ;)
DeleteI love the old cabinet as well. And your point is so true... if you have a space you enjoy looking at, you are more likely to keep it organized. Your house is very neat - the old touches are so special.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we love the old touches in this house!
DeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing.

This was SUCH a unique post, and I felt like you opened the door to your home so that we -- the reader -- might get to know you better.
ReplyDeleteThank you...and Congrats on your SITS Day.
xo
Thank you!
DeleteLoved the old cabinet! Congrats on your SITS Day!
ReplyDeleteI live in Phoenix as well! The old, historic homes downtown are amazing. We live in the PV area but love visiting downtown--First Fridays are fun. Great blog--I'll be stopping back to see all of your Arizona posts. Hope you had a wonderful SITS Day!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maurissa! I do love Arizona and all of its beauty! Did you hear that they are putting in a surf machine at City Scape??
DeleteSo many cool things in your home! I love character homes. I live in a "young" city, so there's not too many character homes or buildings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and Happy SITS Day!
xoxo
Amen sista, Stacy, thanks for sharing the love of your home & life. Old homes have memories and character that MDF crown molding can't compare to. I live in the NW in a cabin like home on an acre, i do long for my own bathroom, but the beauty I see our my windows is too beautiful to want to move to just see my neighbors living-room instead.
